WAILEA, Hawaii — In this Healio Video Perspective from Hawaiian Eye 2024, Allison W. Shuren, JD, MSN, overviews the current trends in fraud and abuse cases in eye care and general medical specialties.

According to Shuren, there has been an increased number of self-disclosures along with an uptick in whistleblowers who are bringing cases to the government.

“Today, over 90% of the cases the government pursues under the False Claims Act start with whistleblowers,” she said.
